Changing your personality?
You can't change your personality, only your behaviour. You will always be who you are, but you can certainly improve your character. Time is dependant on the degree of change and the level of determination. It can take immediate effect, especially if prompted by external influences. Imprisonment being a common example.

Sorry to play devils advocate but why do you want to be a different person? What is a better person? And if you try really hard were do you want to be, what do you want to achieve? Does it not depend on what type of person you want to be, to attain....many 'church going christians' only are in appearance only, but when it comes to helping somebody they walk on by.

Ok, well for a start, it's only you that can answer that question really if you think about it.
In my opinion, if that was me, I would start by doing more chores around the house (I already do) if your not already and by doing this, it will help you get more motivated and you will start to feel as though u are being more hard working. :) When you say becoming a better person, like I said it's up to you to sort that out... you can even look around at different people when you are out and see how they react to things.... see how determined they look, by saying that, I mean when they are say, out in the garden helping their parents, picking something up for others of they have dropped something, it just goes without saying really.... it's up to you what you do, i's your life and up to you how u live it. :)
It can be done immediately if you really want something. But usually it will take time.
