How do you make changes to your personality?

Sometimes I find myself talking way too much and I am a pretty emotional person. I would really like to tone down my emotions - instead of reacting first and thinking later; thinking first and then reacting. How can I go about making these changes and actually sticking to it?

Personality is pretty much defined as deep-seated individual tendencies that cannot quickly be changed. You can do it, but it would require probably large changes. Like hanging out with quieter people who call you on it or remind you constantly to be more reserved. Or if you kept getting fired from jobs due to being emotional, that might slowly change you. Or you could set up a whole series of reminders and systems to remind yourself.

It would be hard and difficult, though.

HOWEVER, How old are you? People tend to automatically get calmer and less emotional with age. If you are fairly young, then you can expect to tone down without even trying much, just with age. In which case, you would be in luck.

Think about what your going to say or do before you do it.

and soon you will just get into the habit of it.

its all about creating habits.
